Ada sink reach requirements.

If the high forward reach is over an obstruction reach and clearances shall be as shown in here under. This places limits on the height of the sink and its position on the counter. When the reach depth is over 20 inches deep a reach range of 44 inches applies. The minimum low forward reach is 15 in 380 mm.

The high forward reach shall be 48 inches 1220 mm maximum where the reach depth is 20 inches 510 mm maximum. To be ada compliant every fixture in the bathroom including the sink must be accessible to a person in a wheelchair. A 48 inch high limitation is required for all accessories except those mounted over obstructions including lavatory fixtures which are up to 20 inches deep. Sink drains are located at the rear instead of the middle.

A taller counter cannot be used if a side approach reach range is required. The sink should not be connected at an extremely high location where the disabled individual cannot reach it. Faucets and soap dispensers must meet ada reach range and mounting height requirements. A side approach reach range is more restrictive than a forward approach.
